The Franco British Exhibition

The Prince of Wales opened the Franco-British Exhibition on the 14 May 1908.  The exhibition reflected the good relations between France and Britain at the time. The exhibits on the 140 acre site [1] where impressive and included the reproduction of an Irish village which was very popular with visitors - also built on the site was a 70,000 capacity sports stadium which was to be used for the Olympics held later the same year.
